Scrooge Had a Point

OK, America.

I'm putting you on notice.

For the next week and a half, every time I walk into a store and hear Christmas carols, I will turn around and Walk Out That Door. Even if all I need is a half gallon of milk.

For the next week and a half, every time I walk into a store and see Christmas displays, I will avoid that aisle and/or area like the plague. Even if it contains exactly what I need.

For the next week and a half, every time I'm scanning through the radio stations and hear Christmas carols, I will delete that station from my memory list. If it's not on my memory list, I will temporarily put it on my memory list and then delete it, just on principle.

For the next week and a half, every time I'm flipping through the TV channels and see a commercial/movie/show that deals with Christmas or holiday themes, I will continue on my way and Will Not Return to that channel until after Thanksgiving. I'll write the channel number down as a reminder if I have to.

For the next week and a half, every time I see, hear, or feel the slightest bit of Christmas and/or holiday cheer ANYWHERE, I will be Elsewhere.

Thanksgiving isn't even over, people!

Besides, Christmas is a scary Unknown Entity this year, and I'd rather not think about it if I don't have to, thankyouverymuch. I'll be hiding Over There.

8 bits of love:

I'm with you EXCEPT for the fact that we're decorating our house this weekend because we have people here for Thanksgiving and won't be able to do it on our customary Day After Thanksgiving.

Why don't you just focus on your birthday?

You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel!

Ok, sorry, Couldn't help the Grinch reference. Did you know the guy who sings that original Grinch song is the voice of Tony the Tiger, too?

See?! We all learned something today! Random, sorry.
I will refrain from all Christmas references except that DUDE the blogging 30 days straight thing? Ugghhh!!! Sorry I blogged about The Holiday We Shall Not Speak Of today but thanks for stopping by anyway!

The whole problem I have with the way we approach Christmas is it's done from a commercial standpoint. The promotion begins early and is nearly unavoidable. However, on Dec. 26, the feeling is snuffed so fast is makes my heart hurt. Trees are tossed to the curb, the plug is pulled on music, lights and cheer as if to say: "OK we made our numbers, let's move on."

Out upon merry Christmas! If I could work my will, every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' upon his lips before the Thanksgiving holiday should be boiled with his won pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart. He should!

I'm with you Teacher Mommy, and Momzombie. Right on.

Well,I love Christmas music and it always hurts me to get SO MUCH OF IT in December, almost too much, even for me - only to have it cut off December 26. So I'm starting early this month (along with those radio stations -are they really playing ONLY Christmas music alreadY?) - just a bit, if that's ok? I'm also looking at Christmas magazines for crafty projects that I might actually be able to pull off - if I start early, there's a greater chance they'll get done. part of the problem with December is that we try to do so much in so little time.... why not start earlier and pace ourselves?

Hear hear. As opposed to cheer cheer. As in Christmas. Seeing Christmas crap in stores the day after Halloween puts me over the edge. And I certainly am not ready for the music. Not till after Thanksgiving. Please.

My gal pals and I sing Turkey carols this time of year. Here is a sample, substituting for What Child is This:

What spuds are these upon my plate
All soaked in turkey gravy
With candied yams
And stuffing moist
And crescent rolls all wavy

This, this is my clean plate
That once was full, and then I ate
This, this is Turkey Day
Where we gain the strength to face Christmas
